More than a dozen local young artists were named as winners in the Springfield Public Library’s 2024-25 Children’s Bookmark Contest and recognized by Mayor VanGordon during the Springfield City Council’s meeting on Monday, according to library officials.

The library said that the contest, which has been held for 44 years, drew in 1,400 entries from both Springfield public school and homeschooled students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Students were invited to create their artwork designs around the themes of books, reading, libraries, or the 2025 summer reading program theme of “Level Up at Your Library,” library staff said.
