Marcola School District Board Members want to recognize our students monthly for exceptional performance at school.
ESPY: Exceptional Student Performance this Year – award is given to students doing well academically and having an exceptionally positive attitude about school. They demonstrate respect and responsibility towards staff and their peers. They show courage by not conforming to Peer pressure and refusing to accept anyone who bullies.
The MSD School Board and the District want to recognize these students by celebrating their success at the beginning of each monthly Board Meeting. Students receive a certificate, meet each of our Board members, and their names are announced on the district website.
March 2025 ESPY Winners are;
Ellen Brylski - 4th grade nominated by Kelsey Smith

She shows great perseverance, wanting to keep working until she gets things right. In addition, all school staff enjoy working with Ellen, as she is a joy to be around. To top it off, Ellen (and her family) has shown great commitment to school and she hasn’t missed a single day this year!”
Melladee Mason - 7th grade nominated by MMS Staff
Mellladee is always on time for class and is always ready and eager to learn. She is always respectful and optimistic and truly leads by example.
Melladee has the amazing ability to continue to pursue academic excellence even when those around her occasionally lose focus. She is a very hard worker and one of the best note-takers I have ever seen in all my years of teaching. She is always listening and making sure to absorb all the information from every lesson.
Melladee has been an exceptional student and leader from the moment she stepped onto our school grounds. - Rob Jerome
James Davidson - 12th grade nominated by MHS Staff
James is a standout student who exemplifies responsibility, leadership, and a strong commitment to learning. Despite being on a reduced schedule due to his academic achievements in previous years, he remains a dedicated and active member of the school community. He has already completed over 80% of his Pre-Calculus coursework and consistently demonstrates self-motivation, focus, and an inspiring work ethic. As a TA for the middle school PE class, he serves as a positive role model, treating everyone with respect and uplifting those around him with his encouraging attitude.
Beyond academics, James is a highly engaged leader who takes initiative both in the classroom and in extracurricular activities. As the founder and leader of the STEM Club, he is leading an ambitious solar car project for the Solar Car Challenge, showcasing his drive to innovate and collaborate. His commitment extends beyond his own success, as he plans to coach the team even after graduation. James truly embodies the spirit of the Mustang, going above and beyond to support his peers, enrich the school community, and leave a lasting impact. - Billy Dahmen
