DEC ESPY

Marcola School District Board Members want to Recognize our students monthly for exceptional performance at school.

ESPY: Exceptional Student Performance this Year – award is given to students doing well academically and having an exceptionally positive attitude about school. They demonstrate respect and responsibility towards staff and their peers.  They show courage by not conforming to Peer pressure and refusing to accept anyone who bullies.

The MSD School Board and the District want to recognize these students by celebrating their success at the beginning of each monthly Board Meeting.  Students receive a certificate, meet each of our Board members, and their names are announced on the district website.

December 2024 ESPY Winners are;

Karsyn Johns - 2nd grade nominated by Selene Konyn

“Karsyn is a phenomenal friend in 2nd grade. He is an exceptional demonstration of perseverance, kindness, and enthusiasm. Karsyn comes into the classroom everyday with a positive and ready to learn attitude. He is always asking if others need help with their work and is doing jobs around the classroom without being asked.

Karsyn can recognize when other friends are struggling and practices empathy. We are so lucky to have a friend like Karsyn in 2nd grade!”

Peyton Reese - 6th grade nominated by MMS Staff

“Peyton is consistently on time to class, with her supplies out, and ready to learn in all her classes. In a large 6th grade group, Peyton is a model student in and outside of class. She is always polite and focused on learning. In math and other academic classes, Peyton consistently makes time to do homework on the weekends.

When Peyton was nominated this month, all of her teachers said she was their first choice. She is diligent, thorough, and works hard to learn new academic content.”

Juliet Devenport - 9th grade nominated by MHS Staff

Juliet is consistently punctual and eager to learn in class, balancing her academic responsibilities with numerous extracurricular activities. As FFA Greenhand president, a small sheep farm manager, a participant in the Oregon High School Equestrian Team, and an active varsity sports member, she maintains impressive organization and time management.

Her respectful and kind demeanor in the classroom fosters positive interactions, offering clear and helpful guidance to peers with patience and good intentions. Juliet's work consistently exceeds expectations, often surpassing both teacher and personal standards, as she strives for excellence and depth in classroom discussions.

Even after breaking her arm and missing school for surgeries and recovery, Juliet's grades remained unaffected. She completed assignments with creativity, timeliness, and a strong commitment to learning, proving that expanding her knowledge is her top priority.

These students are all shining examples of the MSD spirit, and we are thrilled to be able to recognize them for being exceptional students.
