Join us in sending CONGRATULATIONS to Quinn Devenport, Addison Barrowcliff, Caleb Ogg, Jay Andrews, Eddie Yi, Avery Bigbee, Chole Marquardt, Ethian Webb, Hunter Rockwell, Violet Eisele, and Henry Yi. These students attended the National FFA Convention and Expo last week in Indianapolis. Their hard work and dedication brought them home as a highly ranked national team. We are so proud of how they represented Mohawk High School and the State of Oregon, well done!
A huge thank you to Mrs. Fisher and the parents who attended as chaperones. Thank you to everyone who supported this amazing opportunity for our students.
Mrs. Fisher shared the following about the trip:
Mohawk FFA gave their all at 2024 National Poultry Judging CDE and came out with great success. Each team and individual is ranked as bronze, silver, or gold. In addition to a top ten individual list and top four team banners. There were 39 teams of 4 including a team from Puerto Rico. Three Mohawk members were ranked silver and one ranked gold. The team was ranked silver overall. Members felt confident and pleased with their performance and ranking. They definitely represented Oregon with pride.
The Indianapolis experience is one we will never forget. We were able to make memories and take great pictures at the zoo. Additionally, we did some go-kart racing, visited the Indy Scare Park, and ate great food we can't get on the west coast. Most impressive was our experience at Ohio State University. Members were given an opportunity of a lifetime to train with the Ohio State Poultry team. Their coach and professor set up a very impressive practice with examples we were not able to offer including turkey parts and carcasses. Students toured the agriculture department that included five different buildings minimum, an indoor arena, outdoor roof garden, meat and poultry packing facilities, and much more. The agriculture department processes and cooks the products served at the VIP tailgating for the Ohio State home football games. The sights were priceless.
Great work, Mohawk FFA! Thank you for representing Mohawk High School and Oregon on the national stage!
