Mohawk Community Scholarships
Small but mighty
Below is a list of scholarships offered by organizations right here in our community. Most of these scholarships have application deadlines close to graduation.
Mohawk Valley Lion's Club
Amount: $1,000
Scholarship application on file in our CCC. The deadline is, essentially, 1 week before graduation. A member of the Lion's Club will meet with each student individually prior to deciding.
Mohawk High School Booster Club -- Available NOW!
Amount: $500
The Mohawk Booster club will consider awarding two $500 scholarships if they receive outstanding applications. The maximum amount awarded to one student will be $500. Scholarship application on file in the CCC. The deadline for applying is May 15th.
Marcola Mother's Club
Amount: $500
Students must submit a letter explaining why they are in need of a scholarship, plans for the future, and some background information (i.e. family, community service, attendance.) The application must also include a high school transcript showing GPA. See below --this scholarship is managed alongside the Esther Cowling Scholarship: ($1500 could be divided among three people.)
Esther Cowling George Memorial
Amount: $1500 (can be divided among 3 applicants.)
Students must submit a letter explaining why they are in need of a scholarship, plans for the future, and some background information (i.e. family, community service, attendance.) The application must also include a high school transcript showing GPA.
Marcola Education Association (MEA)
Amount: $500
This scholarship is awarded based on committee selection.
John Haller Scholarship
Amount: $500
Student is committee-selected. (Also managed by the MEA.)
Future Farmers of America (FFA)
Amount: $1000
This scholarship is awarded based on committee selection.
Willamettans
Amount: Student receives $500 each year for 4 years. They can also ask for additional assistance purchasing books.
Questionnaire is on file in the CCC: they collect information regarding basics, including school experience and community service.

Oregon Promise Grant

The Oregon Promise is a state grant that helps cover tuition costs at any Oregon community college for recent high school graduates and GED® test graduates. Students must apply during their senior year or immediately after GED® test completion.
How Do I Apply?
Complete all of the steps by your application deadline (varies by graduation date). For most students, you MUST apply during your senior year of high school (before you graduate), or immediately after GED® test completion.
How to Apply:
Submit the Oregon Promise application in the OSAC Student Portal.
Submit the FAFSA or ORSAA for the year that you will start college.
List at least one Oregon community college on the FAFSA or ORSAA.
